Oil on Canvas.
Edward Sutcliffe studied Fine Art at the University of Wales, Aberwystwyth and Central Saint Martins College, London. He exhibited at the BP Portrait Award 2000. After moving to London, Sutcliffe was interested in creating a portrait of someone about whom he knew nothing to reflect the anonymity of life in a large city. He came across the sitter on Tottenham Court Road and overcame the man’s initial reluctance by offering £5 for him to pose. Sutcliffe made some quick sketches and took some photographs to create this portrait, after which they went their separate ways.
